Troat, Basic description

A "Troat" is a trailer towed behind a car or truck. The Troat is  launched into the water by backing the vehicle and trailer as a a recreational boat would be launched. Once the trailer is floating,  it is kept in place by "spuds." (Pikes or poles that are run through the  deck of a floating vessel and hold it in place) The car or truck then drives up and onto the trailer. The car or truck is engaged so that it becomes  the engine, house/structure of the vessel.  The spuds are then lifted and  the boat can now motor on the water.       A Troat can be used for search and rescue, law enforcement, and marine  ambulance. A floating food truck, recreational, and a water taxi. Anything a boat could be used for.  With the ability to convert instantly  into a land vehicle.       During flooding events that are predicted to only get worse due to  climate change, the advent of Troats will save many lives.

I beg you not to give up hope. It's a winding road but we can get past the speed bumps. It will be OK.
If you would be so kind. Google the "Wisdom of crowds" Really does prove Democracy works. I personally believe that we have been sent into a crazy spiral. But right and left working together can change this.
If the left rows south and the right rows north, we go in circles. Once we choose an agreed upon course, whether or not I voted for it, we will get some where. Democracy works. Just not easily.
At present, we are just lost and arguing.
I am a fiscal conservative and social liberal. It's never black or white, right or left. I am for us and never against any of us.
Trump and knee jerking is counter productive.
Talk is the answer.

Default Re: Building a work shop

Thursday I work in the shop 'till just about sunup. (wait, remember the big eyed mouse now living in the metal file draw?)

Having to relieve my self but the neighbors are waking up. So and having an old 5 gallon bucket, I don't bother going out behind the shop.

I forget to empty the bucket but I am the only one who goes out there to the shop so I don't give it a second thought.

Sunday morning about 3AM, I go out to finish a thing for the forum. Having a hard time with it and kinda dreading machining a part that just keeps coming out bad. (really a bummer) but unlock the door and see the bucket-'o-pee. Go to dump it but inside is the big eyed mouse laying like a dog with his chin on the floor. I nudge the bucket with my foot so he can scurry off in his bull mouse and manly fashion. But he doesn't move. I kick it a little harder. The rodent seems to be dead?

So I look a little closer. He is in the prone position and his nostrils are just above the "water" line. He didn't drown. The bucket was next to a bench that's about 40"s tall. So the fall didn't kill him. He didn't drown as his nose was above.

It had been so long that I had been in the shop, I figured he and the other critters had squatter's rights. So I was bringing them food as a sort of rent/thanks for putting up with the noise and light. But he,"the mouse lept to his death rather than living with me" I kiddingly said to Carol.

Carol replied; "I get that"

Beautiful woman

I had the good fortune to live all over the planit. If your going on just picture perfect, shear looks alone, I still couldn't say one ethnisity alone has an advantage. Other considerations and shear numbers alone will over look noteworthy and outstanding contenders, fo'sho! (and the exceptions, of course, prove the rule!)

Canadian woman for their kindness and heartwarming, good nature...

English, Aussie, New Zealand (wut happened to the old Zealand?), Scots, Irish. The accent alone can give a good boy thoughts and make a good dog break his chain.

Eastern European Woman. They love just as hard as they work live and endure. With as much gusto as many a man but look better doing it.

Latina, Mother of good, Latinias! They will make your home, your love life fantastic and happy. Least you forget and lose a body part.

If my very incomplete list could be complete, I would be remiss to not include America, the Beautiful!
Of the 5 (as I humbly see it)

*Ya have the west coast Fun with an air of eccentric.

*South west, Sun soaked, slow talking and quick to understand and give.

*South East, Oh so hospitable in all the most wonderful ways!

*Mid West. So aptly named the bread basket. They will fill your heart and soul with the virtual goodness of fresh baked bread of life.

And my home, the North East. The woman are loving, kind. The decedents of stout, do or die colonists who live, laugh and love with the same resolve.

I do not believe you can exemplify the most beautiful to one group, color, shape or race. At 52% of the population and 90% of the wonderful, it'd be impossible!

I've been ill and unable to work. but am now proudly delivering pizzas at night.

Kinda fascinating. The people, kids and pets. Years back, we had a plumbing biz. I always knew when the check was good by the pets and kids.

Dunno how to esplain this Lusy, but it is the same deal. knock on a door and if the kids and dawg/cat are happy. ya just know it is a happy home.

My cat, at present, is on his back on the bed and the dawg the is splayed on the floor.

"Dear Mrs. Mom,

Just a note letting you know how much I love ya. I may just be a dog but that is not as easy as it seems. I have to bark at stuff all the time. (really, why can't I eat the mailman?) Let's face it, those squirells have it coming!

back to my point, I so enjoy your kind rubs, hugs and love. Your a very kind and giving woman (kinda amazing for a 2 legger)((human))

I so appreceate the treats you sneak me off your plate. (lets keep that our litle secreate as the other 2 are so fanatical about my diet!)
But mostly, I just love you. I enjoy every day waking up to your kind words and pats on the head. Your what every dog prays for. A good and kind soul.

I Love ya Mrs. Ma.

Yours truly and most sincerly,

Shelly DeDawg

PS, I can't sign this. No thumbs."

I see his cheek blown off by a bullet. I drop my riffle and snatch him up. The battle rages on behind us as I run with him on my shoulder. He keeps screaming; “take me home” I run for all I am worth. I get hit in the side. I keep running. He yells,”take me home” I have known him from boot camp. He has no home. He was ordered to join or go to jail. No parents. No home. I run. He is heavy. I run. We make it to a rocky clearing. My boots slip and slid but still I run. The fire fight goes on behind us. I run. He yells; “take me home” I fall. My side is open. I reach down and find my own blood and gore. He whispers; “take me home” Only then do I realize, he wasn't talking to me.

critters

I can't find it but I think Emerson said; "If you would see how a man treats his family, look to his books" My version is "If you would see a man's heart, look to his pets" Just sayin'

Then again, Hitler's dog greeted him warmly. I think of that every time I am feeling insecure and am comforted by Shelly's warm greeting. Is a paradox for me that I have never been able to reconcile. No matter how loathsome, my dawg likes me. lol

Was thinking about this thread today. Really enjoyed every one's posts. Reminded me of a thing I read yrs back about a park in Africa. They had a bunch of young male elephants, who every night, would go and kill or hurt members of a near by group of rhinos. No one knew how to stop this. Some one came up with the idea to bring in an old Bull Male elephant. The attacks stopped immediately and never happened again. I just thought that was cool. Every one needs a role model and a Dad. Or just a critter to watch an' learn from

Online Etiquette

Online language and etiquette

bbl = be back later.

brb = be right back.

Ty = thankyou

Yw = your welcome

Yvw = you’re very welcome

Np = no problem

lol = laugh out loud.

rofl = rolling on the floor laughing.

lmao = laughing my asterisk off. (It’s a family paper, lol)

roflmao = rolling on the floor laughing my asterisk off.(family paper thing(( look above)

tc = take care. sd = sweet dreams. gm = good morning.

;) = wink :) = smiley [;~)> = computer guy winking (self portrait)

Online etiquette is not unlike any other polite society. Basic common sense should be your guide. Some folks come online and think the rules of polite society don’t apply because they are home or at work and anonymous. People still have feelings that can be bruised. Play nice. Don’t be offensive. (Though, like the real world, most are good and fun to chat with)
A word of caution; Meeting some one on the internet is no different then meeting them on the beach, bars or a park. Most people are mostly good, but not all. So use common sense. Any meetings face to face should be in public places, like a restaurant etc. Never give out personal information on the Internet no matter how long you have known them. It might not be who you think it is reading it.

It always amazes me how intimate the written word can be, even in text. There is some thing about seeing words that some how makes it true when in fact its just some unhappy person being mean or kind person being good. Be good.

I once met a woman in a chat room. (Notice I speak as though we were there in the flesh) and she spoke how happy she was but didn’t mention a boy friend or husband. I asked if she was in love. She said “yes, how did you know?” The power and intimacy of the written word is an awesome thing. I really didn’t know, Just a feeling.

Bottom line; every thing you need to know about online etiquette, you learned in kindergarten. Play nice, don’t push and have fun.

Mutually Exclusive

Mutual exclusivity;

They wanted to burn Galileo at the stake for having the audacity of saying the earth revolved around the sun. It was God vs. science and they spoke for God. He recanted and (wisely) never again said such blasphemy publicly.

I had a discussion with a friend and an acquaintance about a study I had read stating that chronically ill people who were prayed for did better then those not prayed for in the double blind study. I was told by both that you can not bring science in to theology, That, they were mutually exclusive. I thought of how I felt about Adam and Eve vs. evolution. Does God really have a calendar week that is identical to ours? Does the all knowing master of time, space and dimension really need a gender? I have always thought the answer to creationism vs. evolution was “yes” That they need not be separate issues but rather clues to the beauty of this, all.

At a press conference, Albert Einstein was asked if there was a god. He said; “Yes, God is the sum total of all living beings in the universe.

I love to talk and hear others opinions on God and life. Just so tired of people saying others are wrong. I am sickened by humans killing humans in God’s name.

There is a Hindu passage; “All paths to God are good” I chose to believe that is true and if God were small enough for the likes of me to understand, He, she, they, them, it would not be big enough to do the work.

Hindu, Christian, Jew or Muslim. I rule nothing out. That would be mutually exclusive

internet dating

How to place a personal add on the internet
Net dating or catch and release?
Firstly, be honest!!! Why tell some one a falsehood that if you do meet, will be discovered. Even if it’s not an obvious lie, if you do get together, it will eventually come out. Have fun with who you are. Ever hear of some one being rejected for being honest or funny about them selves? My last personal add states that; “I smoke, drink and dress poorly” Say exactly who you are and what you want. Better 1 response from some one perfect, then 10 almost perfects.

Try to keep it simple but if you’re witty, let that show. Every one loves a good laugh. Humor is a great way to attract that special person. Do not attempt humor if in a bad frame of mind or if it’s not your long suit. Do try to be upbeat and happy. Like any first introduction, they do not want to hear how horrid your last relationship was.

When you’re actually sitting at the key board wondering what to write, get up and walk around to think. Go have coffee. Be relaxed when you do this and speak your mind truly. Don’t let that special person get away because you rushed this.

Most of all have fun with it. If you look for a life partner out of the gate, you will be disappointed and they will run. It’s like a blind date. Meet and greet, but hope for nothing more then a good time with new friends.

A word of caution; Meeting some one on the internet is no different then meeting them on the beach, bars or a park. Most people are mostly good, but not all. So use common sense. All first meetings should be in public places, like a restaurant etc. Never give out personal information on the internet no matter how long you have known them. It might not be who you think it is reading it.

Bottom line, the internet is a great way to meet great people when used right. Where else can you type in a list of likes and dislikes and come up with that beautiful person you’re having dinner with?

Now go, meet and greet be well and be happy ~Dan Right

If I die before I wake..

Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord, my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I hope my friends, my patents take;
Pet novelties; hamster wheel that pumps water for rodent to drink or runs lil generator for light./ window perches for cats. shaped like an air-conditioner, it jets out of window and is made of clear plastic. locked in by weight of window. is solar heated and gives cat good vantage point./ litter box with double bottom to let liquids drain away to compartment lined with news paper. far more sanitary and relives smell and eases cleaning./ Dog harnace with a shark fin. throw the ball in the watter and you see a dog head swimming with a shark fin. (way funnier when "jaws" was big/ sew watch to dog collier "watch dog"/ lever operated dog and cat dish. keeps food fresh and bug free (takes 2.3 seconds for them to learn they eat if they step on peddle)/ watter dish that has compartment with that blue freezer fluid stuff. put in freezer then pet has cold watter all day. Misc; Mistletoe belt buckle/ Blue freezer liquid stuff beer mug can holder./ black throw rug with white chalk outline like a crime scene/ Fish tank that looks like microwave oven. when you turn it on it bubbles and appears as though fish are being boiled/ Office watter cooler fish tank with separate reservoir for drinking watter. ppl see fish and you drink from it/ small hot-air balloons for promotion and lighting. powered by Sterno can./ normal house fan with heating duct filter mounted on back. cleans air/ solar oven. can power hot water for shower on boats, generate electricity and cook food./ candle operated coffee maker. works like a Mr coffee but can run on kerosene, candle or Sterno/ solar assisted hot Thermos Weapons; hand grenade in shape of Frisbee. allows you to throw grenade around corners./ anti missile, missile. as it gets close to in front of the incoming missile, it explodes a spiderweb like explosively charged wire rope. as it in tangles the weapon, the small explosions disable propulsion and hopefully detonate it mid-air./ steal shank in forearms of sleeves of coat to defend from knife or bat attacks

Give

A tale of two villages

1 village in need of more water to arrogate their rice patties
Asked a village to the south on the same river if a dam could be
Placed on their lands. The village elders tasked a man named send to
Travel south with their request. As tribute, the messenger brought
Gifts of 3 goats and a wagon of rice to request permission to build
The dam. (That would be 12 oxen, 11 wagons of rice and a goat in
Today’s economy)

The war lord of the south became angry at the audacity of the
Request and struck Send when he proposed foreigners not only set foot
On the Warlords lands, but also build on them. A great battle ensued
And the northern village decimated the warlord's forces. After so much
Devastation to both peoples, there was no funding or materials to
Build the dam.

The monsoon came. The worst any could remember or had ever heard
Of in tales of old. The valley soon flooded and completely washed away
The southern village leaving what survivors there were with out homes
Or livelihoods.

The moral of the story; when dealing with folks, give a damn and
Never hit send in anger.

Lessons learned;

Lessons learned;

After work I took the Momma’s baby out back for a run. She is an Aussie shepherd. All auburn, (even her eyes) Red chest and heart of gold. Truly the Momma’s baby and follows her around like, well a dog. Wile out back with her, I realized how much I could learn from her. After an 18 hr day on 2 hrs of sleep, when I walk in the door, bathe the people I love with wet kisses and make sure they know I need them more then my next breath. Be ready, willing and able to give up all so that they are OK. Sit when asked and play when invited. When nap time comes, have a paw on every body in the bed and reassure all not only that I am there for them, also that they are there with me.

But above all else, only pee in designated areas, or the neighbors point and laugh and Momma gets that look.

Dark stormy nite.

It was a dark, stormy night. It really was. I was an able-seaman on the S/S Ocean wizard. She was an 11,000 foot oil tanker and the last of the American tramp steamers. Once, one of 3 sister ships that were the largest in the world. She couldn't fit threw the Panama canal. She was big and slow and built with out labor saving devices and was a bitch to work. God, I loved her. My watch was from noon to 4 and midnight to 4 am. Before watch I would polish her bell. It took over a week to get it polished the first time as it hadn't been done in years.
On my off-watch hours, I would lay in my bunk and listen to the sounds of her inner workings. Normally the last thing I heard was a mechanical switch turn on a pump below in the engine room. As the pump circulated what ever liquid, I would be lulled to sleep like a baby in the womb.
We were a week from shore being pounded by a storm. Headed for N.Y. from the Shetland islands in Scotland. I had a tooth ache so the liter of scotch I was drinking every day was being ignored and tolerated. The pain was maddening. Speech was difficult.
It was the perfect night.....
At 4 am, I finished watch and headed from the wheel house and down the 7 decks to my cabin. The elevator was very slow, so I normally walked down. I go into my cabin and remove my work boots. I don my foul weather overalls and put on sea boots. Grab my jacket and go listen by the door. "All clear" I crack the door and find no one outside. The door to the weather deck is dogged down so as to be water tight. I open it with the small pipe hanging on the door. As it creeks open I can feel the cool night air and smell the ocean salt encrusted on the outer seal and bulkhead. One last look behind me and I am out the door and dogging it back tight. I am on the aft deck in the "lee" and protected from the wind and driving spray by the house as the ship sails straight in to the weather.
As I round the house, I am exposed to the wind and it drives me aft. I all but run for the rail and grab on with both hands and arms. My hood was down the moment I turned the corner and my face and hair are already soaked as I plot my course to the bow, a 1,000 feet forward and up the ladder of the focsail.
Spray is refreshing. White water is invigorating. Green water takes you down.
The trek to the bow takes 20 minutes. Fighting the wind as my foul weather gear acts like a sail exhausting my efforts to advance. Hand over hand up the side rail of the ship, I reach the focsal and am in the lee once again. I take a much needed rest. I want a cigarette, but that would give me away to the guys in the wheel house on watch. The bow of the huge ship rides up on a wave only to dive back down. The sound is defining as she slams in to the next swell and white spray flies over my head and aft, driven by the wind. I wait for relative calm then scramble up the ladder and duck behind the anchor windless. As she slams in to the next swell, I dive to the deck behind the small truck sized starboard windless. I grab the chain and hold on as the green water drives me back towards the ladder. as I am about to lose my grip, her nose rises and the torrent of water lessens. The bow still rising, I jump to my feet but keep low and run for the bow and dive under the bulwark at the very point of the ship. As she dives down and plows the next sea, I am protected as the white water explodes over my head and drives aft harmlessly away.
Her head starts to rise back up skyward. Now in the lee of nothing, not even the next sea. I stand with one hand to port, one to starboard and face the storm. The wind howls, I bellow. The wind screams and I roar. (No quarter asked, none given)
She rides to the top of the swell and begins to fall. I wait one second to late duck below the gunwale to safety. The oncoming water dislodges my left hand and spins me backward to the right and slams me into a stanchion. The water, the pain and the adrenaline are intoxicating.
My ship slows with each dip as she tries to plow her way back on top. She climbs once more and I regain my feet and handhold. I feel no pain from my face or back. Just the cooling water mixing with the hot sweat inside my cloths. She starts to fall as I holler in to the wind............
I took 3 "knock-downs" that night. There is no joy in being slapped down to the deck. There is grace and honor in getting back up.

Why would any one need a Computer?

Why would any one need a computer?
I too, asked "why you would need one?" I was met with the same knowing smile I now give when I hear this. The answer is so huge it’s hard to answer. And the answer is as varied as the many things you can do or what the user would like to accomplish.
It is widely regarded that the printing press is the most important invention in the last 500 years. Invented by a man named Gutenberg, around 1440 A.D. He was not thought to be that brilliant by his neighbor’s. It changed the world and all but created the American Revolution (among so much else) when used to as a device to raise awareness of the situation. The Boston massacre, although greatly exaggerated, cemented American resolve with an artist’s rendering of the tragedy. Printed on the printing press. On a computer, the printer is a "peripheral" If the pen is mightier then the sword, the home computer is a nuke.
Before I go shopping for any large ticket items, I research it online then find best price. I don’t often buy much unless I really do need it. With online researching before buying, I have saved at least $2,000 over just going in to a local store with out checking the prices at other local retailers in the last year. There is actually amazingly less identity theft in cyberspace then using checks or credit cards in the real world. Saves time and money.
There is a plethora of free on line learning tutorials. I love Learnthat.com (I love free more) Also Barnes and noble book store has some outstanding courses. You buy the book, and then complete the course’s What really surprised me most about online schooling is that I had more interaction with the professors and other students then I did in "brick and mortar" schooling. Also, the national GPA in brick and mortar schools leaves females with a 6 point deficit. With "Cyberlearning", it is a dead heat between male and female students GPA. Also, online learning has a much higher drop out rate, but better GPA for those who finish. (Really do need to be a self starter.)
There are many ways to work from home and telecommute. This is ideal for Moms, stay at home Dads and people that for one reason or another need to stay at home. (Iviallge.com is an excellent source for work at home ideas) Using these, I have opened a webpage hosting company, a PC repair business and 2 not for profit organizations.
We have all heard the horror stories about kids and the Internet. It is truly a frightening thing and keeps me awake at night. But studies are showing that the Internet helps kids advance in communication, artistic and many other areas. Is just like television and the world at large. We have to monitor and keep them out of dangerous places. All large companies, the U.S. military and most jobs want or require some computer skills. I worry more about kids in parks then on the net. Take the proper percussion's and disallow chat rooms where the bad folk go to troll for kids.
For the elderly, home bound, handicapped, and the lonely, the home computer allows them communication and interaction that all we humans need so much. Bottom line, a home computer is like a car. We could live with out one and if we never had one we would not know how valuable a tool and transport it is.
God bless. Love and peace to you and yours.

Long and dull

The day ended like the last 32. Finished mowing lawns at the golf course. Walked to the store and bought food, beer and tobacco. On the way back to the bar I live above, I stop on the trail next to the water fall and drink 3 beers and smoke 3 cigarettes. Today a chip-monk sat with me for the 3/4 of an hour. He was at first skittish. Then calm. A cat happened past, across the creek and eyed us both, the burly ruff neck and the chip monk. The chip monk became concerned again but soon relaxed. The cat wondered off and the chip-monk did as well. Tomorrow I will bring nuts for him (gonna call him "Franciscan", he's already a monk) I chose to believe that pleasant discourse gives God cause to smile more then the best plied prayer. On the way to "my spot by the falls", I was driven past by a man who had beat me out of my car in a business deal. He is a foot taller and a hundred pounds heavier. As our eyes met, there was fear in his. The ego liked it, but that lessens the spirit. Was glad to have met the chip monk. Hope and pray you are all well.
